Send a postcard from Sequim

As they have done in past years, The Tenino Motorcycle Team gave a fantastic show of skillful biking, weaving in and out in formation. - This started off over 2 hours of participation by bands and floats from all areas of the Olympic Peninsula...
Stepping out smartly, was the Tacoma Clan Gordon Pipe Band, whose members presented the first stirring marching music. They were followed by the Military Color Guards, American Legion Color Guard, wartime survivors and memorials, the Merchant Mariners... and the VFW. |

Flanked by the County vehicles and the Grand Pioneers, the Sequim High School band provided music to march by. Hardly were the notes fading away then other bands stepped smartly into view. It was a marching bands' showcase - we saw one after another of the many talented High School and Junior High bands which are a credit to all the schools in the area. |

It wouldn't be a parade without the float for the festival's royalty - festival queen Jennifer Horton and the 3 princesses rode their 'banana belt' float directly following the Sequim High School's band, with their cheerleaders running alongside. |
|
Many well-behaved dogs entered the parade. These are the therapy dogs of Olympic Gentle Paws. |

Stepping out smartly, along came the large Bremerton High School Marching Band - I am always impressed by these young people who execute their steps and music with such precision. | |

A wonderful parade- There were clowns of all ages, a large 'rubber ducky' who was giving little kids lots of hugs, the Shriners were there, the Lions' Sauerkraut Band, Representatives from the Daffodil festival, and the almost 150 strong Olympic View Middle School Band from Mukilteo were among the many out-of towners in the parade - also our local Clallum County schools sent bands: from Forks, Chimacum, Port Angeles - many many school busloads of young people enhanced the parade. It was a perfect parade day in Sequim! |
