Early early Spring
So the calendar says...

the thermometer says winter is still here

Last Year Mother Nature reminded us again of who really is in control here- The first day of April we were greeted with Mother Nature's April Fool joke: the white stuff again up in the hills, and below freezing temperatures here on the lower elevations.
In Anchorage they had more fresh snow, so we count our blessings as we sit home (safely) and watch the sun warm up the frosty grass in the lawns, and the roofs steam up as they thaw their frosty coats.

safe on the windowledge under the eaves, these primroses.

Four years ago I went to Holland, from Anchorage in March. Each yearsince then about this time I return there, departing later in April this time. The famous Dutch bulb fields just beginn to blossom out. Two years ago I headed back there for the last three weeks of April and really enjoyed the flowers. There was a very special floral exhibition called Floriade, held once every 10 years from April to October and that was the year for that!

Last year I stay here and we did see Tulip Fields in Skagit County, WAshington. Here in the Pacific Northwest the Skagit Valley Tulip Festival has always been held just about the time I am away - That was the the year for us to see Washington bulbs bloom!

This year again, for the last time I will go to Holland to see family and friends. All my old 'Tantes' have passed on - well into their 90's- and we cousins have become the old folks now. The kids can come and see us!
