A teaser of Spring...

This rose rhody is a grand beginning to Spring.

Someone has a gorgeous rhododendrum blooming already..

The 109th Irrigation Festival Queen and her Princesses were selected Saturday night and accepted the crown with joy, from last year's Queen; the court begins the year of representing Sequim at the daffodil festival parade in Tacoma in April. Our daffodils are getting ready to blossom now...

Shopping center controversy hit Sequim hard this year- but in the West End of Washington Street, as well as in the east end, as had been rumored. Home Depot, Albertson's Grocery Chain, and Target are supposeded to be the anchors of the Mall across the street from Wal-Mart. The Sequim First group has gone to court in an attempt to force more complete environmental statements from the malls.

In another item of the changing times, The Lavender Festival's Street Fair will again move north to the School properties on Fir Street, avoiding the closure of Seal Street and Cedar. Cedar right now is undergoing renovation with new curbs, sidewalks and street paving, as is the central downtown area. It is a mess. There will be more room for fairgoers at the new location.

...Change, the only constant. ..

On The Sequim Calendar for March, the second week, 2004:

controversial, but attractive, Sequim Ave is the main road into town off the highway. Locals are finding ways to avoid it.

Driving down Sequim Avenue, off the Highway, lands you in the center of town.
This Sunday morning photo belies the construction/weekday/summer traffic congestion...oy!
