No family reunion this year over the holidays. We are scattering again. So we will have a virtual Christmas and email each other photos and good wishes.

Since there's no one home, we will probably head back to Victoria (with laptop in hand) fr a few days 'overseas' ourselves.

There's so much to do in Victoria- The Butchart Gardens are the major drawing card; their holday magic is accomplished by millions of tiny white lights. The songs of their Carollers, and fragrant hot cider, turn the transformation of this dormant growing season into something truly wonderful.

Holiday decorations are everywhere.

During this whole weekend the family cats get a cat-sitter, a friend to come in and feed them and attend to their needs.

The Sequim Calendar for next week:

• The Solstice: on Thursday the 21th, the 'shortest day' of the year, there will be a group gathering in Port Angeles. The amount of daylight will slowly start to increase now.
  
  
• Area schools close for the holiday break on the 20th; reopen early January.
• And the M/V Coho, The Black Ball Ferry that runs from Port Angeles to Victoria, goes to once-a day round trips in January and February . It will be out of service the first two weeks of March. Check on their website for times of travel.
