Henrietta Theodora Catherina Mac Gillavry

William Mac Gillavry's family originated in Elgin, Scotland, and moved thence to Zwolle which was, at the time, a seaport, and on to the Dutch East Indies. Henrietta was born in Soerakarta, Java. She married Carel Anthonie Noel Boers (1821-1885) Nov. 15, 1852 there.

She had a younger sister, Antoinette Ernestine Geertuida Wilhelmina.

Henrietta died in 1888 in Semarang, Java.

Henrietta and Carel's child was our Oma Nettie- Antoinette Johanna Boers van der Waart van Gulik (1875-1952), who was orphaned at age 13. She wrote down the 18 pregnancies of her grandmother, Carel Boers' mother, Anna Elisabeth Josina Mooijaart, in a book that has been misplaced, but which I did see when I was a child 50+ years ago. Only 2 of those children lived to adulthood- Carel and his brother Alexander Augustus - that we know of, though there may have been others. I remember that there were lots of little crosses on those pages.

That is why genealogy research is so much fun. It is like playing detective - and most of the work was done at these two websites, posted by cousins many times removed...the Pluiets and Gerverdincks.
