One of the things that endeared this little home to me was it's location - near the Anchorage International Airport. Most of our transportation in recent years has been by air - and it is still exciting to go fly... To almost anywhere...(Note the "almost" - I'm very happy to be finished flying in the little 6 passenger Cessnas ).
Yesterday we drove to the airport and picked up a friend who was heading to Singapore. He had a plane to catch at 2:00 a.m. and was just able to fly out of Seldovia, where it had begun to snow, to Homer, in the morning.

He flew into Anchorage on Era's next available flight and arrived in early afternoon where we went to pick him up. He was able to catch some sleep at our house before he headed to Korean Air Lines in the International Terminal.
Well, Airport Officials have closed Concourse C where the little local planes
would fly into and out of, and moved the ERA and PenAir desks and gates to the
Lower Level at the Other End of the airport's Domestic (South) terminal.
There's major reconstruction underway in the area - with a train??? (my goodness)
planned to gather up passengers for Downtown. Also a connection between the
terminals is planned. Currently there's a shuttle bus service.
Delta Airlines domestic flights now depart from the International terminal
(the North Terminal), as do the charter flights, and the Asian and European
ones... though it is no LAX .

I just love flying as a means of going to faraway places. It has never ceased to amaze me that something as heavy as a 747 can get airborne and fly for hours and hours... and you can be somewhere totally else in just a few hours!
Oh and I saw a moose twice today; one by the Minnesota Highway and one in the park across the street from the house - they're here about the town and, Mike, you should be able to see one when you come visit us.
